In order to get a more clear and concise view of the career scene, many sources have categorized these opportunities to lessen the average job seeker's confusion.

There are some career opportunities that may seem to be a bit unconventional or highly creative. Traditional career options namely, government jobs, careers in business, medicine, etc. are losing their popularity due better job prospects offered by upcoming industries related to technology and the fashion industry.

Celebrity couples often face more hardships than married people who are not in the limelight. Paparazzi interference, the pressure of keeping up public appearances, and erratic work schedules are only some of the complications that are part and parcel of being a celebrity. Their marriage, touted as the most solid relationship in show business, became a casualty of their professional lives. "Citing the difficulties inherent in divergent careers, which constantly keep them apart, they concluded that an amicable separation seems best for both of them at this time," their spokesperson, Pat Kingsley, told the media.

In hindsight, celebrity couples need to insulate their relationships. They have to realize that family life and children take precedence over a successful career. Some couples get so caught up in their lifestyles that by the time they realize the potential damage, it is too late to make amends.

And remember if you attend an industry luncheon to listen to a great speaker - introduce yourself to him or her after their presentation. Give them your business card as well - and gulp, ask for theirs! It's the little things you do as you "put yourself out there" to be open to new opportunities, friendships and possibilities that will pay off in the long run.

New Year, New Career - Dealing with Career Transition Over The Holidays

The "holiday season" defines the time that extends from Thanksgiving to New Year's, where all we seem to do is eat, drink and be merry. Just what is it that makes the holiday season so special?

It's a combination of things, really. The concept of giving is but one reason. What other time of year do you find yourself encouraged on a daily basis to do or buy not for yourself, but for everybody else?

There's also the concept of family: being with family, forging stronger relationships with family, doing things together with your family. All these things work to forge a sense of unity with your family, which promotes a sense of security for the group and especially for the individual.

This is part of the reason that undergoing a major career transition during the holidays can be so overwhelming. When you're changing jobs or if you've lost your job, you're being forced to deal with a sense of insecurity and fear of the unknown, both of which directly conflict with the benefits of the season.

Don't overstretch yourself during a career transition

We all tend to get carried away when we set New Year's resolutions, don't we? We're going to lose those 25 pounds; we're going to become fluent in German, Russian and French; we're going to finish that novel we've always meant to write; we're going to get on that diet and stick with it, come hell or high water.

While it's good to set New Year's goals, keep them realistic in the face of your new career transition. Though changing one aspect of your life may fill you with a desire to change multiple aspects, remember that too much change can bring an unbearable amount of pressure on you.

Don't set unrealistic expectations that you'll abandon come February. Find a couple of smaller, more realistic goals that you can set for yourself while still coping with your job change.

How to Make a Career-Change Plan that Works

In my Life Coaching Business I often see clients who after a few minutes of talking tell me what career they would love. They really are not confused about what they want to do instead they are afraid to go after their dream or they don't know how or perhaps a combination of the two. It is wonderful to know what your passion-filled career would be but extremely frustrating to know that and never do a thing about it! Carol is a prime example of this dilemma. She is amazingly artistic and loves decorating houses. Her own house sold in two days during a depressed market and had several offers. Why? Because Carol had made her home a showplace. Any outsider can see that Carol has the talent, passion and gift for Interior Decorating. Unfortunately, she has not followed that dream and has jumped from one unsatisfying job to another. Part of the reason Carol is stuck is the absence of a clear goal and plan to achieve it.

The first step to turn a dream into a reality is to be very clear about what you want. Take time to write out your ideal job. Put as many details into your description as possible. You need to give that powerful part of your brain, your subconscious, detailed and brilliant pictures to work with. When you describe your goal use all your senses to make a clear picture of what you want. For example writing down, "I want a rewarding career." does not give the subconscious much to go on. What is a rewarding career? What would that look like? What would you be doing? What would others be saying about you? Once your goal is clear it is much easier to move forward with purpose and motivation.

The next step is to acknowledge WHY you want to reach this goal. A goal without a strong purpose will not keep you interested. Write down all the reasons you can think of. What is in it for you? How will you impact others? If you cannot come up with a strong "why" then it is often a sign that this goal is not yours at all but something that you think you "should" do or someone else thinks you "should" do. A powerful "why" helps you stay motivated even when you encounter obstacles as you embark on your career change.

After you are clear about what you want and why you want it then you can start creating a Dream Line. The Dream Line should be for the next six months to one year. If you make a plan for much longer then that it is easy to procrastinate. Write down where you want to be at the end of the year. What do you want to accomplish that would feel really great? Do you want to have your own business running and profitable? Do you want to move to a new city and be working at your dream job as _____________. Do you want a promotion into the position you have always dreamed of? When you know the end result then you can begin filling in the blanks. What do you need to have done this month? What will you accomplish next month. Of coarse this is a "living" plan and you will change as you go but by writing down what you think you should accomplish each month you will keep momentum.

Jonathon Winters the comedian once said, "If your ship doesn't come in, swim out to meet it." After making a plan the key to unlock your dreams is action. Consistent, daily action. Jack Canfield, author of "The Success Principles" talks about taking 5 daily actions steps towards your goal. Don't worry if you are not sure how to take some of the steps do it anyway. Yes, you will make some mistakes but that is how you move forward. We all learned how to walk by trying and falling and trying again. I'm not sure why we get the idea that when we learn as adults we need to do it without mistakes! It just doesn't work that way.

Because we will be making mistakes, learning new things and feeling fear it is important that we gather a support team. Who do you need on your team? These should be "can do" people who will encourage you as you change your career. They need to be people who will let you cry on their shoulders and then give you a gentle ( or not so gentle!) shove towards your goal. Remember that sometimes we need to tell people how we would like to be supported. Don't assume they will know. Tell them!

As you move forward towards your goal keep focused on the desired end result. Imagine what it will be like when you are working in your new career. What will you feel like? What will you be doing? Who will you be working with? Keep your vision bright. Not only will it keep you motivated but you will naturally attract the people, resources and circumstances that will help you begin your passion-filled career.

Celebrate as you work towards your goal. Many of us celebrate after we start our new business or land our dream job and that is great but it is not enough. We need to celebrate each small step. Research has shown that people who feel successful tend to have more successes. The way to feel successful each day is to acknowledge your completion of each small step. Pet funerals and memorials are pretty common these days, as many people treat their pets as family members, and even as surrogate children. Pet Funerals can be held in the same fashion as human Funerals, including the owner's memories of the pet, photographic displays, pet poems and pet prayers.

Although it may seem like a morbid career path, people who are in this industry often have fulfilling and satisfying jobs. Pet funerals are generally small affairs, with the pet's owner and family members and maybe a couple of close friends present.

What Does a Pet Funeral Celebrant Actually Do?

A celebrant will usually travel to the clients home for an introduction. They will usually take a furnished body bag and placed the remains in there, and place it on a mortuary cot. The client is then allowed to spend time with their pet before it is taken to their place of business or crematorium.

The celebrant will communicate with the client about ceremonial wishes. They will offer pet caskets, cremation, and urns.

If the pet is cremated, the celebrant will return the remains to the client to keep. Otherwise a regular funeral will be arranged. Depending where you live, and your local authority's rules, a burial can take place on private property, or in some cases, council land.

Although it isn't mandatory to undergo professional training to be a Pet Funeral celebrant, it is usually seen as proof that you have the skill, guidance and know-how to gain employment in all types of professional celebrant work. There are certain characteristics required to be successful at officiating at such an important event as a Pet Funeral. It would be wise to seek other's opinions to gauge whether you possess the traits that will define if this is the career for you or not.

Changing Careers

A recent discussion with a client, about to embark on a major career change, got me thinking about my own career change and whether, in retrospect,  it was a good thing to do.

I worked in education for many years but gave up a permanent job that I enjoyed for the unstable income that comes from being a self-employed consultant. Madness perhaps? More a seeking of self-actualisation, a desire to create and face my own challenges and the need to prove to myself that I could survive in the business world. It's the best but most challenging decision I ever made!

Making a smooth career change comes down to eleven key points.

1. Listen to your dreams - They tell you a lot about yourself. 2. Reality Check - What are you really trying to achieve by this career change? 3. Research - You need to be fully informed about jobs, your chosen industry, networking opportunities etc. 4. Be smooth - A career transition that uses skills you already have or which is in an industry/organisation where you already have a great reputation, is the smoothest way to change careers. 5. Product YOU - What skills and qualities do you bring to the marketplace? 6. Goal setting - Set Goals that are specific and make yourself accountable. 7. What's your plan? Create an action plan to ensure you do everything that needs to be done to achieve your goals. 8. Take action - Yes, you have to do something about this or it isn't going to happen. 9. Resilience - Often a career change doesn't go as smoothly as expected. You have to be ready to pick yourself up and keep going. 10. Motivation and mind set - Being positive and believing in yourself has probably never been more important than when you are making a career change. 11. Celebrate! Celebrate your achievements along the way, then really celebrate reaching your goal of a successful career change.

Walking down the street minding your own business, it happens again, just like the week before: yet another person is looking at you with a slightly strange expression...as if they know you, or you've met somewhere and been introduced. In that moment before they put their hand out to shake yours, you get it, and wonder how it'd ever slipped your mind. Once again, another person thinks you're that guy out of that movie, and nothing you can say can make them change their mind. So you pose for a photo, or you sign something. And then it occurs to you, a revelation that might just change your future forever: I could do this for a living. If this is going to keep happening then I may as well earn some money out of it, right? I could be a lookalike...

Except this doesn't happen to most people. For most of people there's a problem: the majority of the population interested in following this highly unusual career path don't look like anyone who the general public would know. The key to greater success in setting career objectives is having a better understanding of where you're regularly stuck, and apply new steps at these stages in the cycle to achieve what you truly want in your career. Have a look at the cycle of change. What stage are your career goals at?

Career Goal Awareness Stage

This is the starting point for any change or goal. First there is awareness of dissatisfaction or a new need in your life. Think about the simple need to have a drink. You might feel a little thirsty but can you ignore it? Perhaps for a while if you're busy. Eventually though you get a headache and can't concentrate until getting a drink becomes the most important thing you must do, until your thirst is quenched. It is the same with setting career objectives. The more dissatisfied you are in your current career and the stronger your need for change the more compelled you will be to act. You might feel that you want to a promotion or a more challenging job, but if you feel fairly comfortable where you are, there won't be sufficient motivation to energise change and achieve a career goal.

1. Remove the career goal 'shoulds'. Remove all the resolutions that are being driven by your family or friends. These are the sort of goals you feel you should be doing. For example, 'I should get another job'. 'I should get paid more for the job I do'. All these might be well-meaning goals but unless they are your goals then you're not at the awareness stage of change with these goals. What this means is that any positive results are going to be very unlikely.

Career Goal Mobilisation Stage

This is the stage where you feel the most excited and energised for what you are about to do, and you'll be thinking about all your options and options and ideas. If you start off really excited about a new goal and then all that motivation and energy fizzles before you have made any real progress, the chances are you're being over ambitious. Too much excitement can colour our judgment on our choices and direction. Equally, if you're one of those people who say 'I don't want to get too excited in case it doesn't happen', then you could be draining the energy from the project before you've had a chance to create it. You need to mobilize energy to create change.

2. Remove unrealistic career goal options. You can make progress if you're making unrealistic demands on yourself. Break down your career goal into smaller steps which can be achieved more easily. This will help create more confidence and a belief that you can achieve what you really want to.

3. Find a career supporter. Try to find someone in your circle of contacts at home or at work who will support and encourage you in achieving your career goals. If not, join a related self-help group or find a career mentor who can help you to focus on the positive changes, however small. Their excitement can help you keep up your momentum.

Career Setting - Goal Action Stage

This is when you start to experiment with different types of actions to achieve your career goals. So many resolutions are lost at this stage when the reality of achieving the goal becomes clear. It is often much harder and takes longer to achieve than first thought. If you are getting stuck at this stage the chances are that you're being too much of a perfectionist and expecting to get great results all the time. It's easy then to feel demoralised and give up too soon. To achieve satisfaction requires lots of action!

4. Experiment & be flexible with your career goals. Be prepared to try many different ways to achieve your goals. Ask yourself how many different options can you try to make this happen. View these approaches as experiments to be carried out rather than solutions. Inevitably some approaches will work better than others. Thomas Edison, the renowned electric light inventor was supposedly asked by a New York Times Reporter, "How does it feel to fail seven hundred times". He answered that "I have not failed seven hundred times. I have not failed once. I have succeeded in proving that those seven hundred ways will not work."

5. Face your career fears. Sometimes we give up very quickly not because our resolutions are really impossible to achieve but because we feel scared of trying to achieve them. It is easy to procrastinate and let day-to-day pressures get in the way of following our dreams. This is why some of the most fundamental life changes such as starting a new business or a new career are only made when change is forced upon us, such as following a divorce or redundancy.

6. Be kind to yourself. We are often harder on ourselves than we would be with our friends. Try and reframe your results so that there is no such thing a failure or mistake, just a need for new approaches. Ok, it can be scary but looking for failure is not going to help. For example, an unemployed man has applied unsuccessfully for over a hundred jobs! He now works actively as a volunteer three days a week, and has been on a training course to upgrade his skills. He could panic and give up. But his proactive approach means that he is increasing his chance of finding suitable paid work. It's essential to find alternative options to improve your chances of success.

7. If it's not working do something else. If something isn't working there is a tendency to look for something or someone to blame. 'I haven't got the new job I wanted because of the children'. If you want to achieve something new in your life you will need to take responsibility for where you are, and then try to take some small steps to do something different.

Career Setting Satisfaction & Career Goal Celebration Stage

This is the stage when the project or goal is completed and satisfaction is reached. If you are the sort of person who has many half finished projects still open waiting to be completed then you probably feel that your career goals never get completed. However, you might have achieved more of your career goal than you think. Many of us have the tendency to look at what hasn't been achieved rather than savouring the pleasure of what has. For example, 'I've got a new job but at a lower salary than I wanted' It is also very British to talk-down our achievements. None of us want to be seen to 'be a show off' but celebrations are good for our morale, confidence and give closure to projects which help us to achieve new dreams.

8. Appreciate completion of career goals. Appreciate how far you've come so far. It may not have been exactly what you had in mind when you started out, but good enough might be all that is needed now. It's OK for your goal to change and develop over time.

9. Celebrate your career successes. A desire for perfectionism can get in the way of celebrating your achievements. Identify what you've achieved and find ways to celebrate your success regularly. A bottle of champagne, a meal out or a trip out can do wonders for your self-esteem and happiness. Go for it and enjoy.

Winning and Losing Streaks in Your Business

Have you ever noticed how winners seem to have things so easy? Everybody loves a winner and everybody wants to be around a winner. Winners get the best table in a busy restaurant and people are drawn to them and their confidence.

Losers are on the opposite end of the spectrum and aren't the ones that will get praise and all the perks that go with winning. People don't want to be associated with losers, who also tend to be in a bad mood. They don't want to be dragged down by them or be associated with them.

Winning and losing streaks happen in sports and celebrity careers, but they also happen in business. A new business struggles to build itself up, and suddenly good sales and good word of mouth advertising propel the company into the spotlight. Your company is hot, trendy and popular. That's why it's important for the company's leaders to keep their fingers on the pulse of the people who make them winners, their employees and their fans. The most important thing to an employee is to know that they are valued by the company they work for. They want to do work that matters and makes a difference. This keeps morale and productivity high. A little innovation goes a long way and keeps employees excited about their job. They should be encouraged to bring in fresh ideas that could keep the company on a winning streak and have the confidence to know that their ideas count.

You also can't ignore your customers when things take a downward turn. They are your fans, your word of mouth soldiers keeping up the buzz. If you ignore them they will leave for companies that appreciate them. A company's leaders need to figure out what makes their employees and customers happy. It may not be what you think. How To Change the Energy of Career Confusion

Have you ever felt confused when it comes to your career? Maybe you've felt unsatisfied in your work, longed for some challenges, or knew you wanted to enter a certain profession or start a business, but just felt unsure about what to do. Whenever this topic comes up with my clients (as it has also come up for me), I've learned to notice that it isn't really about confusion, it's more about fear of success.

Do any of these fears connect for you? The fear of starting something new, fear that you won't be able to measure up, fear of disappointing others that count on you, fear of not doing something right, fear that you're a fraud, and the biggie, fear that you DON'T DESERVE IT?

I don't think I know anyone who hasn't experienced some form of fear when starting a new career or beginning a business. It's natural. The problem is when it stifles our energy, and leaves us living dull and disconnected from our purpose.

So how do we move past that fear and on into the success of our lives? We look for the coffee.

When I was a teenager, and would get so nervous the night before starting a new job, my dad would always say to me, "By this time tomorrow you'll know where the coffee is." This was code for--you're scared because it's unknown, but you've got to actually go do it to get to the known. And he was always right. By the end of my first day, not only did I know where the employees got their coffee, but it was also always a good conversation starter to people I didn't know, "Could you please tell me where the coffee is? Oh, I take mine with just milk. No sugar, thanks." You get the idea.

Fear of change keeps people from thriving, from evolving,from asking for what they really want, from reaching out to connect with others, from taking care of themselves, and from challenging themselves. You are the manager of your energy, and this equals the master of your life , which includes what you do for work and the level of your success.

Ok, so this sounds all good, right? But exactly HOW does one become the master of his or her success? Well, I'm what I like to call a "Get-It-Done-Gal." If I'm going to master anything (especially my life's work) I'm going to want to know some concrete steps I can take to do that. Now I know you're thinking (maybe wishing?) that I'm about to try to pass on a magic bullet. Nope. What I am going to say is there are exact steps to take, but those steps aren't about expending your energy outward. Instead, those steps are about turning your energy inward. We've got to shift the inside to see the results on the outside.

Here's what you do:

Begin by identifying the original fear that's holding you back from making a career change or starting a business. (Fear of starting something new, fear that you won't be able to measure up, fear of disappointing others that count on you, fear of not doing something right, or, again, maybe the biggie, fear that you DON'T DESERVE IT...or perhaps it's something else for you)

Look at your work history. Start with your first job. Write it down. (Don't just read; do. You'll get faster results. Trust me.) Continue the list from there. Now go back and mark what you did and did not like about each job and how long you stayed in each position. What map do you see in front of you?

Celebrate what you've done. Give yourself a big pat on the back for everything that you've experienced and achieved so far. Nothing is too small. Wahoo! Go you! Seriously. To energize your success, you want to start with acknowledging what you've done so far.

Accept the compliments of others. This is just as important as #3. If you want more energy and success in your career and business, you've got to be able to let it in! If you can't say "thank you" when someone tells you they like your sweater, what makes you think you'll leave your energy open to accepting a large raise, bonus, or new, high-paying clients?

Track your commitment. Career, confusion, and fear of success, are great ways to talk around what you say you want, without having actually to do anything. It's important to check in with yourself. Do I really want this? Take one week and track the amount of times you think about/talk about making this career/business change. What kind of energy is generated? Do you feel excited, but scared? Or, could you really care one way or another?

Visualize your new career/business success. Take a look around you, right where you are this moment reading this. Take everything in. Now, what would you like to be different? Close your eyes and see, and really feel, what it would be like around you if you were successful in your new career/business.

Reevaluate the limiting belief or your fear. Is this fear who you are or maybe, just maybe, now that you've shed some light on it, not so powerful after all? Is it perhaps just a defense (again, it's natural to defend yourself when you're scared) or an excuse because you're actually happy to stay where you are, but feel pressured by others to want more--do more. The more open and honest we can be with ourselves about our fears, the less power they have, and the more energy we have available to us actually, to make the change.

**Bonus** If you can't shake the fear, then FEEL it, but act. Eleanor Roosevelt said, "You must do the things you think you cannot do." That's been my practice. (This can happen a lot as a self-employed professional. You never know what the day holds.) When I feel myself being stuck, I recognize the fear, I take a breath-break, and then I do it. It usually turns out just to be about the "unknown" and then I remind myself that I NOW know where the coffee is.

By using any celebrity to advertise your business, you are tying your fortunes to the fortunes of that celebrity, so a great deal of care needs to be taken. As my parents used to tell me "You will be labelled by the Company you keep"

If a business has done their homework well and picked the right celebrity, particularly if it is done early in the celebrities career, then they will be in the front position to make a small fortune. This is often a gamble, because life has a tendency to interfere and it is hard to guesstimate what the choices a celebrity will make will be. Hopefully, they will be wise and considered career and life decisions and your return on the investment will be maximised.

Does the choice of picking the right celebrity make your ad stand out in today's crowded advertising world? This is a resounding yes. All you have to do is take note of your own reactions when you see a celebrity advertising a product on TV. Because they are someone you already like, you tend to watch their ad and see what it is they are advertising.
